Speaking of healthy desserts…
My husband and I now argue who thought of this crazy spontaneous trip to New York City! He says it was his idea… I say it was mine. Truth be told, he’s kind of the city guy and could move to NYC in a minute if I went along with it. I seem to have a quiet soul and really do prefer a serene surrounding all around me… so he could totally be winning this one.
Little does he know… for a while now I’ve known of a little place in East Village with the best vegan and gluten free desserts : Babycakes Bakery. I knew I had to go soon because sometimes it’s just all about those little things in life, like a good cookie ~ or a doughnut!
So while we argue and keep deciding on who gets the credit for this NYC trip ~ I know it was my tastebuds saying Yes to NYC all along (he does not need to know I whispered New York New York to his ear while he slept for weeks now…) Was it all for Babycakes? Yes, it’s quite possible ~ and so well worth it! ;)
I’m super excited to be holding a doughnut! I haven’t had one in about 3 years ~ and when in America ~ you eat a doughnut! (but not just any doughnut. this one is made from organic all natural ingredients, free of egg, wheat, and refined sugar))
Oh and yes, please do check out my stylish ring and beautiful earrings ;) These are from a talented jewellery designer and metalsmith Amy Ambroult. You can find her timeless collection all done with traditional metalsmithing techniques from raw materials in her shop AG Ambroult on Etsy.
So you can tell from the photos that we went there twice! Yes, we had to go back for more the next day, when we were all packed up and ready to leave for our road trip home. We got another doughnut and a double chocolate and mint cookie ~ heaven!
And that plastic container they package the goodies to go – it isn’t plastic but Nature’s Plastic – a completely compostable material! Well done Babycakes!
I totally love New York City! I may have a quiet soul but that totally got left behind under some big old tree once we got to the big city. The energy, the excitement, the fun vibe and friendliness on the streets we didn’t expect to see… all blew me away. I had so much energy and we walked and walked so much, did 10K in one day, but we didn’t even feel worn out. We just enjoyed the buzz of the city so much. New York… and ahem Babycakes, we will be back soon! ;)

Babycakes is definitely on my list of places to visit when we go to NYC. In fact, my list is entirely made up of vegetarian restaurants and bakeries! I plan all of our trips around where we are going to eat. It drives my husband crazy. The kids don’t want to come to NYC with us, and I’m fine with that. Easier restaurant visits! ;)

these pictures are great, and I was smiling while scrolling through them, loving all your shots. AND THEN I noticed the ring, and saw your mention of my work. THANK YOU so very much. And I must say that I am humbled to know that you like and wear them!
