family friday :: apple picking

October 21, 2011 by Ella

We had a great time recently on an apple picking trip at a local orchard. My daughter’s been with grandma a few times, but this is a little embarrassing – it was my first time!

We had a great time with my sister, her husband and her little son. (Hubby was busy with the reno ;( so he missed out a bit.) I think this will be an annual event for sure. I have no idea why I didn’t come out to spend a beautiful day in an orchard before. I’ve already made a few goodies with the apples collected. I will share some of those goodies with you soon.

Do you go apple picking with your family?

What was your highlight of the week?

Share in the comments below and I will feature one of the comments next week!

Have a lovely weekend!!! Hope it’s a good one ;)

    It looks like it was a great time! I grew up going apple picking at the different orchards in Quebec, and we’d make a day out of it. And then there was the baking and applesauce cooking with my mom. They are some of my best childhood memories. I deeply miss this tradition, and not being able to give the experience with my kids makes me a bit sad. But even if there are no orchards around here, we our local grocery stores receive crate fulls of fresh B.C. apples, the kids and I head out, buy bags full and they know it means apple sauce and apple cake making time :)

    By the way, your dresses were absolutely adorable!

      You grew up in Quebec? That is very neat – we always love going up there and we are now trying to learn a bit of French ;)That means you speak french right? I want to enrol my daughter in french immersion later so sometimes we watch french cartoons on youtube ;)so she gets used to it ;)

      Your childhood memories sound really sweet…. I think kids build great memories like this – and now you get to do that with your own kids ;) These are the good times they will always remember…..

      Thanks for the compliments ;)

    We will be going next week. Praying for sun… I don’t think we have gone once that it hasn’t been mud and slop and grey skies. Looks like you had a perfect day!

    What beautiful photos! We recently went apple picking ourselves.

    I wanted to thank you for your thoughtful, concerned words about my health and migraines. It meant a lot.

    Much love,

    Nicole

    What a beautiful day and a beautiful family!! Supermarket apples taste like nothingness after the glories of orchard apples, which is both a blessing and a curse…

    what stunning pictures and a gorgeous looking apple orchard. Both my brother and sister have apple trees in their gardens and it’s so nice to go pick and make things with the apples, but a sunny orchard like this is just the best – the whole experience and all that :)
