back to school treats + giveaway

September 1, 2010 by Ella

It’s the first day of September…. where have the summer months gone by??? I can’t believe it even though September is my favourite month. (why? you ask – it’s my birthday month ;) Still for some, September means many things, the end of summer, start of the cold weather, but mostly it’s the BACK TO SCHOOL month.

To celebrate the school season, my daughter got to style her stuff in a serious scholarly outfit with all the essentials including Semilla Snack Bags. Take a look…

Semilla-snack-bags photographySemilla-snack-bags4Semilla-snack-bags2Semilla-snack-bags3

How did you like my daughter in a school outfit? She’s a smart cookie as is, but seeing her all dressed up with her snack bag in hand made me realize just how big she’s growing.

She really loved using the snack bags to reach in for a few cookies and some dried fruit. I loved how they were secure and snug with the velcro opening and she had no trouble opening them. I already washed mine a few times and they look like brand new again. Brilliant little things that reduce waste, are durable and functional, are in 100% cotton and hand sewn (not in china).  Plus, all the snack bags are now made with a non-toxic layer of nylon: lead free, phthalate free and No BPA! This increases their practicality and keeps snacks fresher for longer periods of time. I give these TWO THUMBS UP!

There’s all this talk about BACK TO SCHOOL – but these are fantastic for grownups too who want to fashionably bring their lunches to work or for a walk in the park ;)

Guess what? Semilla Snack Bags is offering a DISCOUNT and a GIVEAWAY to my readers!

Oh she is a smart cookie (and a supercute one) and her mama is one too for getting those snack bags. I am in the process of switching over to them myself. The plastic makes me a little crazy especially with four kiddos. Thanks for sharing. Be well, Angela

Living where we do in north coastal San Diego, the flip flops never are put away, but the true end to summer for me is when the days are too short to go to the beach in the evening and the Ugg boots come out for the early mornings:) Semilla bags are the best! Everyone should be loaded and stocked with them! thanks for the giveaway.

Thanks for the visit to my blog, and oh my, isn’t your daughter just cute, cute?! Although we are experiencing our first technical “heat wave” in 10 years here, the first day of school was yesterday, and that signals end of summer to me. Now, if only the weather would cooperate! I’m ready for fall. These snack bags look great! They look a little bit bigger than the others that I’ve tried. We love our cloth snack bags, but don’t have quite enough to fully stop using the Ziploc bags.

What a super cute outfit. I love how it really made that apple stand out. Summer ends for me the beginning of school. The month of August consist of school shopping have the kids spend time with their grandparents and then school starting.

i would love these snack bags!!! i would love a chance to win.

summer ends for me when i start to see signs of fall – like the fall festivals, going to pick apples, seeing the leaves change. it’s been so hot here that i won’t really think summer has ended until i feel the 70 degree days again.

thanks for reminding me just how much i LOVE fall…ahhh…the sites and smells are the best.

These bags look great! A long time ago, we got rid of (mostly) all our disposable snack bags, and converted our lunch boxes over to the Laptop Lunch system. I am a huge fan of reusable! So thank you for letting me know about this giveaway; I did not know about Semilla Snack Bags before reading about them here.

To answer your question about the end of summer: it is, without doubt, the first day of school for me. We get into our new routine once school starts, and then it just seems that summer officially becomes a thing of the past.

Thanks again for letting me know about the giveaway.
    ~Christy
    P.S. Beautiful photos, btw!

summer in houston, tx ends towards the end of october. i always remember halloween in my childhood. sometimes i would be sweating my little butt off going door to door and sometimes it will be a bit chilly. i cant wait til it starts cooling down. for now its still 100+ degrees.

your daughter is so precious! what a great model she is.

Normally, summer “ends” on the first day of school, which was yesterday. HOWEVER it is currently 98 degrees out and feeling quite like the middle of summer. So this year, we;re going to have to take our cues from mother nature, and proclaim summer to be “over” when it starts feeling like fall.
    great giveaway!

Summer ends with the first frost, that is when the tomatoes and basil will turn dark and ugly!! I usually spend the night before the first frost frantically making pesto and drying basil to get as much of that taste of summer as possible! I am in the midwest, and my son started to school on August 19th, so vacation ended for him and started for me!! Lisa in KS (I would love a bag, too)

Thanks for visiting my blog! I am now completely in love with these little bags and would love to have one (or ten!). I just love how they save so many plastic bags. We could use them since summer is ending for our little family on Wednesday when my hubs in back in school full time and our days of play our over.
