10 things to do in the winter

January 10, 2012 by Ella

In these parts, winter is here and by the looks of it it’s not going anywhere, even though we’ve had a few warmer days. So I think it’s better to just buckle up, hit this list of 10 things to do and enjoy the beauty of this season ;)

  1. escape to a cabin in the woods
  2. feed the birds with this lovely tutorial
  3. go for a dog sled ride
  4. make soup (and this vegetarian chili looks just perfect to warm up to)
  5. make some owls with this needle felting owl tutorial
  6. make a sourdough bread
  7. get a fire going
  8. organize your closets, cabinets and drawers
  9. decorate for a winter cabin look with faux fur and bare branches
  10. knit a comfy pair of wool socks with this tutorial

Oh gosh…love this SO much. I almost made a January bucket list for myself, because winter can be so enjoyable if we take the time to do such cozy things!

The bird feeder is just amazing, and I have felted owls on my to do list too!

Thanks Clair ~ from all the seasons, I think winter needs the most help ;)
I could have easily kept going for at least 20 things! lol

What a cozy and creative list! Thank you so much for including our bird feeder; I am honored. This is a great list for beating those winter doldrums. We have big owl fans around here and that tutorial is awesome.
We eat a lot of soup and that veggie chili will hit the spot. Thanks again and thank you for always encouraging us to take care of and nurture ourselves.
    xo,
    Ang

      Thank YOU Angela ;)
Your bird feeders are awesome. This will most likely be the first thing we do off this list ;)

Winter in these parts hasn’t been white, and not exactly cold either. But that hasn’t made it any more enjoyable, as it’s been to icy everywhere to play outside. I love your list, from 1 to 10! Well, except for #6. Sourdough seems to complicated, I just don’t have the patience to even bother trying, lol.

I have a few needle felting projects in mind for this winter actually, so thanks for the link ;)
    Hugs,
    Stephanie

      ;)
I know it seems like such a tedious job – but my sister makes it look so easy and when I go and visit and have a fresh slice of her sourdough it is the best thing in the world. She keeps me inspired to master my recipe ;)
