This weekend was the 29th Annual Vegetarian Food Festival in Toronto! A delicious event in the best part of the city – right by the waterfront at Harbourfront in TO. Not only was it a great Veg event – the day was absolutely perfect for a day in the city strolling around the amazing booths, munching some little samples and goodies, grabbing some yummy food, fresh coconuts, smoothies… ~ what was not to love!
There was so much good stuff, great vendors with amazing products and some other cool highlights!
One amazing event that I witnessed was seeing Patrik Baboumian break the World Record for the Strongest Man with “Vegan Power”!
He carried 550 kilos over 10 meters! There was lots of cheering and it was great to watch this! He’s a very cool guy and very inspiring! Once he could catch his breath after carrying those 550 kilos, he inspired us all with a few words about breaking the stereotype of being strong must mean you eat meat! Not so my friends! This man is 100% Powered by Plants!
Aside from that, we enjoyed grabbing some fresh coconut water ~ after all it’s nature’s most perfect food!
And the food was amazing! Kind of nice to be in a place where food is actually good for you!
Oh how I wish street food would change up and be clean and natural and actually healthy! There was no greasy anything and no crap donut burgers or chocolate covered pig – that’s for sure!
Basically, I was in food heaven!
We ate too but were too busy eating to take pics of our food. We had tacos and burritos and our daughter had falafels! And we bring our own water in glass and stainless steel reusable containers ;) Everything was delicious! No greasy nasty food here – only great food that’s a joy to eat and doesn’t make you feel sick after!
Then… onto the vendors! Over 100 companies joined in… and I don’t even think I visited every one of them. That’s because I personally would need a full weekend to enjoy every little nook and cranny ;) I like to take my time, say hello, chat with the people and learn new things! And if they have some samples… I like to try them too and just enjoy!
But I kept getting my hand pulled by my daughter and eyes rolled at by my husband… so it wasn’t at my pace that I would like! Still, I did enjoy A LOT!
Some of the booth highlights were….
Sweets from the Earth – a yummy dessert company that we enjoy a lot! We had a few desserts including their awesome cupcakes and a chocolate mint brownie and shortbread.
ChocoSol Traders with their clever This is NOT Chocolate chocolate!
Front Door Organics – Fresh Local Organic Delivered Food!
Kinnikinnick Foods with their amazing delicious bagels and cookies! I have not had a bagel in years and these were amazing gluten free and vegan! I took home 6 bags!
I also discovered a beautiful line of handbags called Pixie Mood that specialize in vegan leather! Stunning designs and incredible quality impressed me from the moment I laid my eyes on these bright fun colours!
In between the booths, we just really enjoyed the day being out in the fresh air. There’s so much to do for grown ups and kids that it’s just a cool place to hang out.
We passed by a dog show which my daughter exclaimed it’s a Dog Fashion Show (cute!) and we also met up with friends and just had a great time on this gorgeous day… strolling around, talking, laughing…. (yelling – at the kids) and eventually sitting back on the grass relaxing and watching some live music ;)
Overall, it was a great day! We loved it and can’t wait for the 30th Vegetarian Food Festival! ;)
Have any of you been to this festival? Or have you been to a vegetarian festival in your area, please share your thoughts and experiences.
WIW (what I wore) : I kept it kind with a thrifted wrap-around dress with a hoody and wooden wedge shoes and a folk print oversized bag.

I knew a few people that attended the festival and it sounds so much fun especially sampling these goodies & smoothies! What a lovely day! I have been to Phuket Vegetarian Festival in Thailand, it lasted a week or so, almost all the 7-Eleven places sell vegan pastries and vegan Thai frozen meals & microwavable meals (it was crazy and lovely!), but after the festival ended, they stopped selling them.

Rika, I noticed it’s fairly easy to get a meal veganized – but to have both, vegan and gluten free is incredibly hard stuff!
Which is why I am scared to death to travel now unless I pack my whole cupboard ;(
