This video is so amazing and powerful to spread awareness about anti-bullying. I cried… Take a look at “To this day” Project:
It’s tough out there, kids can be plain cruel. I’ve experienced this myself when I was younger and still see it today at the playground when I’m with my daughter or hear stories about school kids from my nieces and nephews.
As a parent myself, (and oh gosh, I am so new at this and I know I don’t have all the answers), but I cannot stress the importance enough about communication with your child. It’s hard, but I think if we all did a great job about being parents, took time to listen, listen and really listen to our children ~ and have a great communication about their feelings, their friends and lives, we could prevent so much of the cruelty. Showing kids that everything out there can be approached with kindness and not revenge or cruelty is one of the best strategies we can equip them with to face the real world.
It’s never too early to plant the seed of kindness in our children. It’s never too early to help them grow a bigger heart. It’s never too early to help turn their hands into warm helping hands that give to others. And it’s never too early to teach them to speak kind words to everyone around us…
Do tell: What are your thoughts and what can you do to help protect our children from being bullied? Do you have any experiences that you want to share? Do you have tips for parents or children on how they can protect themselves? Please do share:

Wowww, made me cry too. I could be a strange little kid in a lot of ways, but I didn’t suffer too much from bullying. I think it was because my mom taught me to be very proud of everything about myself…including my quirks. And she also taught me to be very kind. I think those two things made me pretty resilient and untouchable (though of course, I had my share of tough moments).
I think it is so important to raise awareness about blatant bullying like this, but I think there is also a more subtle form that is so dangerous…the quiet shunning, snobbery, disapproval of people that are outside the norm. So while it’s important to fight bullying, I think it’s also important to promote a culture of love and acceptance beyond tolerance.
