the perfect fall feast

October 14, 2010 by Ella

It sure was busy in our kitchen this Sunday – and I have the pictures to prove it ;) However, I just realized I don’t have the happy satisfied faces of all our guest – they were a little camera and I-don’t-want-the-world-to-see-my-face shy ;) But they were happy and they were satisfied – which was lovely to see all those easy and fast recipes hard work paid off ;P

This Butternut Squash Puree was excellent in every way. Everyone loved it – even my 8 month old nephew ;)  I think my husband makes the best butternut squash puree in the world – I just had to skip out on the creme fresh on top ;(  – – but it was still fabulous!

As you can see, a lot was going on – – but it wasn’t all that bad to put together. Planning was key in setting the things that needed to go in to the oven, set on the stove to boil so it’s all timed right. Then it was just a bunch of cutting, slicing and tossing… It was a great healthy meal where carnivores and vegans can sit side by side and be happy and FULL ;)  It was overall a fairly light meal, even for the carnivores, and there was nothing fried!

Even during dessert time, we had a great time munching on old favourite recipes as well as some new fragrant tastes. My Spiced Pumpkin Cake was awesome – so they said ;) and my mom brought a traditional simple plum cake loaded with eggs and wheat ;) lol. My brother in law has a Newfie friend and he got us a bottle from a Newfoundland Winery – it was a goooood delicious dessert wine – so sweet and rich – yum!

Oh my, I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m busy. All these recipes will take me a good lunch break to put together – I will try to come back soon to add all the secret (and not so secret) recipes to this post ;)

See you soon!

HUGS!

This food looks soooo good!! I am dying to see your recipe for the lentil vegan pâté – that is just the sort of dish I love. Your presentation is fabulous too! It’s about all I can manage just to get the food on the table.
