When times get busy, it’s a bit rough to prioritize for me. Blogging takes a little break and that’s ok. I would love to be here daily but the truth is – with my quality control – I need to put up only the best with good enough photos for the world to see. That usually takes up a bit of time – which is LOVE anyway as photography is my number one passion! But there’s more than one passion!!!!
So I may take a day off here and and day off there. (I think I need guest-posters ;)
So in the off-times there’s other things I do. Like work!
This is a postcard design I did for 3 sister stores in Walkerton, Ontario. Having never been in Walkerton before, I was curious as to what these stores looked like ~ a bright idea came on and Google Maps inspired me to create this design. And by the way, I also designed the branding for all of the 3 stores, from the logos to all their print material. These ladies referred me to each other one by one – word of mouth is my only form of advertising. And it’s still going strong thanks to wonderful relationships and happy clients.
So maybe I don’t show my work very frequently – or like, never! Mostly because it’s confidential work that clients would not care to see on a personal ramblings blog, sandwiched between a recipe and a photo of my cute daughter. But once a while, I might be able to give you a little peak into my working life as a graphic designer or photographer at Pure Love Captured.
I’m often beating myself up that I don’t do enough crafts or I don’t have time to knit, read, or post on this blog. But in truth, I’m very lucky to call this my job in the comfort of my home (it is not as glamorous as it seems – those of you who work at home know what I mean). It has its advantages, yes, but it’s a bit rough to find that balance sometimes – which is why I’m constantly on this journey of self-discovery, learning to balance and to enjoy my days whether I’m a Superwoman, cuddling with my little girl on my breaks or folding laundry between business calls!
Even when the times got rough, I couldn’t quit my day job. I’d loose my clients and all the work I put in thus far into our company (mine and hubby’s), (now in its 8th year). I guess I’ve never been one to just give up. I’ve always followed my passions and worked very hard work to make it all work. Keep people outside and inside my family happy. And most of all – keep me happy.
Is there other stuff that you do, or want to do?
Please share in how you keep balance in your life. (I’m still learning ;)

Aww, I hear you on the balance! I am constantly trying to self-discipline myself with priorities, so blogging and crafting sometimes get put on the backburner. I think guest posts would be fun! Maybe a guest post for a guest post trade?! :) I hope you’re having a good week!

I’m still learning this as well. It’s hard with small children. I find having a schedule works really well for me and letting go of expectations so I don’t get frustrated when things don’t turn out quite like I was planning. Each day is a gift, so regardless of what I get done in a days time I’m trying to remember and embrace that. Always love stopping by your lovely space here!

your work looks fabulous!
and i hear you on balance. it really isn’t easy and is often stress-inducing ;-) i do think however, that like you, i could not just give up work, my ability to create and express myself just because i decided to be a mom. instead, i’ve learned how to be flexible, manage my time, and not mind a few late nights :)
