more christmas inspirations

December 16, 2010 by Ella

Since we don’t dress up our tree until the weekend before the Holidays (although now that I’m sucked into the blog world – something tells me that I need to have things done sooner – to, you know, show the world what I have going on ;)  A good thing is that I can still roam around multitude of inspiring sources and pull ideas for here and there around the house. I still anticipate to make some decorations, a wreath, and some other pretty little Chistmasy things… we’ll see how that goes.

For now, I leave myself (I mean YOU) a few more Holiday decorating ideas. Enjoy!

Ahhh…. I love these. I better get moving with my decorating?
How about you, are you all done? Do you make your own ornaments or even some gifts? When do you dress the tree?

Growing up in Europe we always dressed the tree one day before the Holidays, on the 23rd. And it was usually with home made decorations, candy, apples.
The kids always dressed the tree and guess what…. there were no presents given out. St. Nicholas brought gifts on the 6th of December (usually a small gift under the pillow).
Shocker! I know – especially for the North American culture. Well the time and place was different, but still the essence of the Holiday Spirit was always the same – to share the warmth and joy of togetherness with family and friends.

Please share your ideas, decorations and your thoughts and meaning of Christmas for you and your family.
Feel free to post a link to your Christmas posts in the comments below ;)

Wishing you a lovely day!

I walked away from the frenzied holiday a few years back and I’ve loved it. I’ve limited my gift giving to one gift per person and it has to be heartfelt, and whether it is handmade or store bought, it has to scream the recipients name. They seem to appreciate the gifts more now that they aren’t instantly moving on to the next. Now about that tree, I put mine up the week before Thanksgiving this year because I love it and I just couldn’t wait any longer. ~grins~

You sure put together a lot of gorgeous holiday inspiration! I have a bit of fireplace envy looking at these. I really love the cards displayed on the branches one, all of them are beautiful!

Fun photos! I love the simpler times. I love the natural trees and those done up with glass balls etc. We have slowed things way down this year which has allowed us all to enjoy different aspects of the entire holiday season. The commercialism, holiday and otherwise, always makes me a little bonkers and I am finding more and more ways to disengage from it slowly. Thanks for sharing the inspiration and your holiday stories! Peace, Angela

hi ella, what a nice collection you’ve created.. so many pretty things and ideas out there. but i love what you wrote towards the end there, sharing your experiences and european traditions. a simpler way for sure, with just as much joy and meaning, if not more. do you include some of those traditions now as a mom?

How interesting that as a child you received a small gift under the pillow on the 6th! Are you keeping that tradition?

I just posted about our traditions on my blog — you’ll have to check it out!
