monday motivation – facing your fears

October 25, 2010 by Ella

il_570xN.177298943To kick off Halloween week, (we have 6 days left till the ‘trick or treat’ time of the year), I thought I would go with the theme even for Monday Motivation. What are your greatest FEARS?  Could it be of monsters under the bed, snakes and spiders? Or maybe flying or the deep water? Could it be of being the centre of attention? Terrorists? Are you not  living your dreams because you’re living with your fears?

Dealing with phobias and fears affects most of us in some way. Some get nervous at the thought of needles, others get frightened at the sight of a spider. How to work through your phobias and fears? Here are some links that could help: Phobias and Fears, Symptoms, Treatment, and Self-Help, Overcoming Fear and Phobia.

For now, write a list of the FEARS AND PHOBIAS you have. Here is mine:

My fears are:

  1. spiders (although around my daughter I try to totally be cool about it and say things like ‘oh look at that cute spider, looks like he lost his way home…’ all while my heart skips a beat ;)
  2. deep water – ok. here’s the truth. I don’t know how to swim! there I said it. when I was little, no one thought of getting us lessons and now I’m too old with breathing problems from MG – I am in complete fear of water – I do however, LOVE THE BEACH ;)
  3. job security a.k.a. money – my job is per contract/ per job and it’s difficult to predict how it will go in the distant future or even tomorrow.
  4. that my illness will return with a vengeance – I am doing so good but who knows how this will play out – I may not be able to walk tomorrow…. I worry way in advance about stuff – I need to let go!

What are your biggest fears you’re trying to overcome?
I would love to hear from you ;)

PS. on a lighter note, for those that don’t want a heavy thought-provoking start to your Monday – here is a great song I don’t seem to get tired off  – lovely for this Monday Morning (melanie fiona) ;)

Hmm, I would say spiders are a big fear (I try staying cool too), fear of failure, unfair criticism, financial security, and xenophobia. Thanks for sharing! Peace, Angela

Hey, thanks so much for featuring my paintings!

I have a bunch of silly fears. . . but my biggest one that I’ve kept through my whole life is the fear of tornadoes! Oddly enough…there is a tornado watch in my town tonight. O_o
