Did you hear about this t-shirt that made the headlines recently? It is just too funny, isn’t it? ;)
Of course it’s ridiculous. I mean where is this message heading? Who designed this – and who even approved it to be available for purchase? It has all the wrong messages for young girls – placing emphasis on looks rather than academics and leaving the homework for the boys???? Yeah right.
Ok, so it’s a little silly. But I almost feel like it was done on purpose to stir up some issues and piss off some parents – enough to make it to top headlines. Have you heard this expression before – “any publicity is good publicity”! Yeah, I think it was most likely intentional to give that company a bit of spotlight just as a whole new back to school and fall season is ahead. Well done, you guys. Piss off some people and get a sweet publicity ride as a result ;)

Hi Ella ~ Love the t-shirt and I totally agree with what you said. I always shake my head at the people who get so bent out of shape over stuff like that. It’s a JOKE, people! Lighten up!!!
And on the other hand, same subject, I recently came across an article about how we talk to young girls. I’m guilty of it myself – “Aren’t you a pretty little thing” “I love your dress” “Your hair looks so cute like that.” It made me stop and think about what else I could say in a greeting – maybe “how old are you?” or “what’s your favorite book?” I don’t know. Something to think about…

You are absolutely right about how we do refer to little girls.
But, aren’t they cute? To strangers, standing next to you in the check out line, it’s completely appropriate – of course, at home it should not get emphasized too much. I try to watch myself with what I say but other members in my family really smother her with the ‘aren’t you pretty’ compliments…. drives me nuts.

GRRRRRR!
stuff like this makes me want to curse and pull my hair out.
I CANNOT even imagine who thought that up, designed it, approved it, marketed it, priced it and lastly PURCHASED it.
anything for a buck, right? (vomit)
