happiness is…

September 10, 2012 by Ella

Hello my friends! Happy Monday!

Oh I do hope it’s off to a good start for you…. and I do hope you had a great weekend.

My weekend zoomed by while we sacrificed a perfectly good weekend to get some things done around the house…. here I go trying to make ‘happiness’ off it all….. ;)

Sometimes you have to just Get Things Done!
even though that means a nice few days get sacrificed in the process…

Happiness is…

Seeing the last bit of our kitchen renovating getting finished up
watching the mr. with his handyman butt crack getting things done (LOL)
Receiving a bountiful basket of fresh picked tomatoes that my father in law brought
(my own harvest is having a slow ride – the cherry tomatoes are repeatedly popping up but the large heirloom tomatoes are still struggling through to get some colour!)
But since the FIL has me covered, there’s lots of tomato sauces, salads, and just plain sliced pieces sprinkled with sea salt, pepper and drizzled in olive oil, eaten up in great batches.
(this has me thinking of making homemade tomato sauce preserves) (but I’m very nervous about my *first time*)

Going through *stuff* and purging, cleaning and organizing feels so good
I have a long way still, but glad to be dealing with my monsters in the closet ~ if you know what I mean?!
Bags are being donated, young nieces are excited with new (to them) hand-me-downs, the rest is going to donation drop off centres.
Progress is made and a big cleaning frenzy has been kicked off! My spring-cleaning has finally arrived ;)

September is looking and feeling great…
As I did my first raking of the leaves of the season, I enjoyed the crispness in the air
enjoyed my hair getting picked up by the cool wind
and the dried up yellow and red leaves flying off past me and spreading out across the lawn
looked beautiful, like in a slow motion movie fragment
I didn’t rush and took my time with this one…

Hello Fall….
Happy you’re inching your way slowly here
I’m finally getting excited you’re paying your visit again ;)

And this morning, our school routine was off to a good start…
we’re smoothing the frowny faces as we go along
getting up earlier and giving our daughter more responsibilities (like brushing her own teeth)
is both challenging and rewarding in itself.

But we went out into the cold air this morning
(running to keep ourselves warm in just our hoodies)
(who knows where I’ve put those jackets???) ;)
(see, that’s why this clean up madness is doing us all good!)

Now, I’ve got my hot green tea with ginger waiting for me to take my first sip…
I think it will be a good Monday after all, and I may not need to pretend it’s not Monday! ;D
But rather look at it as a great start day to a good week
filled with opportunities to learn new things, hang out in the sunshine in our time off,
and definitely, most definitely make out first soup of the season ;D

What’s making you happy today?
