family friday : painting with love

March 18, 2011 by Ella

Hello there my dears! Yes it’s Friday. Hooray ;) Don’t know why, but I thought it was already Friday since the middle of the week and kept making weird plans only to realize the end of the week was still far off. Maybe the time change screwed things up for me… Which is awesome by the way. Are you loving these longer days? Of course – the only problem is to try and convince the kids it’s really night time when it’s still light outside ;)

This week’s highlight would gave to go to one of our painting evenings with my daughter. You see, I don’t paint. I haven’t painted since high school I think ;) I set everything out for her to do her thing, as usual, then she said she was done. I looked in the tray and there was so much paint left over. I kind of don’t like to dispose of stuff  that’s still good so did something that surprised me as well….

I lifted the paint brush and dipped it in a vibrant rich washable water based paint. Ok, so it wasn’t great quality stuff but that didn’t bother me…. I kept going at it with what I thought would be flowers – but then the circles just evolved as circles… My daughter saw me and got excited about painting some more. There we were… painting buddies, sharing stories and listening to soft piano music…. and we painted. Painted with Love.

.

This weeks’s FF sharing comes from Lori of Run Lori Run:

“Hmmmmmm… This week’s highlight has been planting seeds on my kitchen table, trying to pry my pre-teen daughter away from her phone or ipod to help me plant. I love gardening and I’m HOPING to instill the same love in her as well. There is nothing like watching something grow from a seed to a seedling and then transplanting it into your garden to grow. Never gets old!”

Thanks Lori, what a perfect spring and daughter-bonding highlight ;)

So, what was your Family highlight this week?

LOVE the painting photos. HOW FUN! And really enjoyed your reduce clutter post. I have so much more decluttering to do/and am doing…and I get inspired daily to do more. Thanks for all the great tips. I love the one about resetting the house each night…something that is very important to me. I notice my day starts off so much smoother when the house has been “put away/cleaned up” the night before. XO!

You will have so many memories with your daughter- you are so good at celebrating the little things and then documenting it! (And thank you for the link to my blog!)

your description of that evening sounds just wonderful. And now, of course, you’ll be more likely to pick up that paintbrush (literally and figuratively!)more often. And that little painting that you did? AWESOME! love the colors :)
