family friday : a newsworthy day

January 28, 2011 by Ella

Hello my friends! I thought I would share a moment from the week that is newsworthy for our family. My almost 3 1/2 year old daughter, learned to read! And it all started with MaMa! Ahhh I am so happy and proud ;)

Now, she’s moving along quickly through so many words, I can’t even count them ;D What a joy this is. To all the moms out there who have already experienced this – do you remember the first time your baby-kid read out loud? Ahhh, it is sooo special ;)

I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce  a new segment here on Fridays called Family Friday. The point is to share for me and you, a highlight from the week about your family – either through photos or words, or both!

Sounds like fun? Yes! To add to the excitement, I will feature someone from the commentators about their family highlight and link to your post (if you’ve written about it). This will be exciting to brainstorm and pick a highlight and to try and make each week Newsworthy! A bit of a journaling segment, if you will, a bit of reflecting, all to help each of us treasure a moment from the week. Here’s to Family Friday! Yeah ;D

So what is your Family Friday highlight of the week?

PS. my apologies for a late post and for skipping a few days – truth be told, I’ve been a working girl at a gift show. So exhausted and so tired – but I loved it. More good news, I’ve been snooping around and have kept track of all the latest trends in home decor for this year. I will have a post about all that very soon! So this weekend, I do hope to rest and recuperate – what’s a girl to do to get a foot massage around here???? ;) xo

Have a lovely weekend Everyone!

What emotion !!! my little chubby doesn’t speak very well, for her is difficult.
She started the school and she didn’t speak anything, but now she is speaking a little, as Tarzan, ha ha but speaking.

How exciting! That’s such a huge deal in itself, but at her age? What an accomplishment! Enjoy a restful weekend :)

Wow! I’m so impressed she can read already! Way to go, mama. And yes, I vividly remember when both my girls started reading. One of my favorite things to do is watch them read. It’s just so amazing that they are acing their own experience with a book!

Loooove your idea for family fridayl i actually did have a bit of a family friday, because my baby (ha) was home sick from school. I hate to see her sick, but i loved the special time we had, just the two of us, reading, snuggling…

Wow, good for her! I’m so impressed. I can’t even get my 3 1/2 year old to go pee pee in the potty. Sigh!

BTW, coming over from Hoosier at Heart.

Congratulations! What an achievement for both of you! I have so loved watching my five year old grow as a reader. She’s now at the point where she catches herself reading random words beyond the realm of books–street signs, product labels–without conscious effort, and I love the look of surprise and pride on her face. Now my three year old has begun the progression, first letter sounds, now short words, and I get to experience that discovery once more. Joy.

I love the concept of Family Friday. Ours was pretty pitiful, with still ailing children after a long, hard week, so I won’t focus on that. Instead, I’ll tell you about today, when we strolled to town, where we played in the park and lingered in the bookstore . . . together, all of us well.
