There’s nothing better and relaxing like enjoying a few minutes just for ‘you’. There can be a lot of busy activities intertwined with chaos filling up our days, and when that happens it’s hard for us to hear ourselves breathe sometimes. That’s when a little ‘me time’ is most beneficial and rewarding.
How do you find your half-an-hour of peace?
I have started to set the alarm clock 1/2 hour earlier than my daughter’s wake up time, and that is a great way for me to start the day. It’s a lovely quiet time, so calming and peaceful. I make myself a cup of my morning tea – green usually (or I steep two tea bags into a large cup and have different blends, green with peppermint, green with cranberry…. it can get truly crazy ;) and I sit by my window, drinking my tea, savouring my morning. Just taking the moment in, breathing… sort of meditating.
Now, especially with the warmth of spring coming our way, it’s been truly blissful. These first warmer mornings, I open up the windows on my bay window, sit in my stylish rocker and invite the day. I relax, breathe and listen to the morning song of birds and nature.
So, do tell, my friends: How do you find more ‘me’ time?

My me time is either before everyone wakes up or after our daughter goes to bed. At night I lay in bed and read whatever book I am currently reading or sometimes I will sit in the computer room and read while my husband plays games on the computer. On the weekends I am always the first one up and I spend my time lounging around watching tv or surfing on the computer.

I have 2 me times during the day for me time……once in the morning with my decaf coffee or decaf chia tea and a bit of blog time….as spring aproaches I love to sit in the quiet of the kitchen listening to and watching the birds play out back!
As the momma of 6 kiddos (age 16-3yrs) I also go to bed before everyone else most nights 7:30 or 8pm. I love to sip one of my many many flavors of herb teas and read from one of my many many books!
I am both a tea and book hound! (hoarder :)
Peace,

i found mine, as soon as the kids left the house for school….and now, i’m an empty nester. they are gone {19 and 23}….just down the road in their own apartments. with their own lives and i have all the time in the world…..and most days, i pretty much love it !

Beth you are hilarious!
Thanks for giving me hope that in 20 years I will have a few minutes to myself ;)

I am not very good at setting up time for myself. Now that I have started my own business it’s even worst. My leisure time used to be Saturday but it has since turned into work time.
I love this idea of waking up earlier and making time for yourself.

Imene,
I hear you ;)
I do hope you will find some space and try to do ‘nothing’ once a while.
From experience, if you do too much – it all stops being fun ;)

I don’t work on Fridays and this was the best move I’ve ever made! I savor every minute of my alone time on these days even if I have nothing much planned, even if I spend it cleaning the house– I still love it!

I’ve started getting up earlier. I think I have been sleeping better due to my green smoothies. I love how it adds hours to my day. Your teas sound so delicious. Sitting and knitting even when helping with homework also helps. And starting in a few weeks, I will be spending some more time in my studio. Yay. But as for the day to day, getting up a little earlier is tops.

I do the exact same thing. I love to sneak down and have my tea in peace. recently, though, my older girl has started getting up with me, which is kind of nice in its own way. one on one time is always good for the girls too. As for finding a different me time, well, I just ignore the chores and sneak upstairs for a few. even if it’s just five minutes.

It sounds like you start your day absolutely perfect!
I aspire to wake earlier than my boys. One day it will happen – once I’m passed being an all-night buffet for my newbie it’ll happen. :) Right now my ‘Me’ time fits into that moment when the two little bubs miraculously coordinate their naps!
