Today is Sunday and the perfect day to work on our Cut the Sugar Challenge.
Sugar is a guilty pleasure and I often see how much guilt goes around the idea of eating dessert.
But the whole idea of depriving yourself of a little pleasure is all wrong.
Don’t cheat! Reward yourself instead.
When you change your mindset about a treat and see it as a reward instead of a guilty cheat day – you develop a healthier mind set.
You no longer have to play mind games – should I or shouldn’t I?
If you develop healthy sugar habits and for example snack on fresh fruit during the week when you have sweet cravings and learn to have unsweetened beverages and actually start to enjoy the natural taste of herbal tea or coffee ~ you allow a little room for a decadent treat on the weekends.
And you know what else happens… when you put something off and wait for it – it tastes even better and you get more excited about it.
So especially since it’s Sunday… how about a little home-baked something.
Of course, I don’t think it’s an all-out day. I would say it’s very important to stay within quality sweeteners and within a serving size or else you don’t want to feel sick after, do you? My approach isn’t to pig out on Sundays but develop a healthy and happy mindset for rewarding yourself with moments of sheer pleasure… (not cheating) just don’t forget to add your favourite people to this decadent mix ;)
May I recommend my No-Bake Chocolate Mocha Cake from the Cut the Sugar book! :) It is sweetened with dates, coconut nectar or maple syrup and stevia but its’s also rich in protein and healthy fats and antioxidants – so it’s like healthy too and tastes just amazing! ;)
Wishing you all a beautiful sweet Sunday!
Do tell, do you sometimes feel guilty when you think of treating yourself to a dessert?
How would you feel if you rid yourself of these guilty cheating thoughts? Would you be happier while still practicing healthy habits? (I think so!) xoxo
