Hello and Happy Sunday!
Today’s challenge is all about reminding you to celebrate this sweet beautiful life….
I know it sounds like the biggest oxymoron to bring up celebrating when I also suggest for you to cut sugar. But it makes perfect sense. Hear me out…
That’s because my approach isn’t really to live sugar-free. I’m all for enjoying your vices. My approach is just to be be mindful of how much sugar and type of sugar you enjoy. Life would be pretty miserable if you restrict yourself so much ~ and food (as well as sweets) should be a pleasurable experience. That’s why my approach to cut sugar isn’t to sugar-detox or deprive yourself of enjoyable things in life…. like even dessert.
I love this quote from Oprah:
“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”
It’s just a simple reminder to spend time with your favourite people and enjoy this sweet life (with less sugar if possible).
I like to bake my own treats because I know what’s in the food I eat and give to my kids and I can control the type of sweetener and amount. I also love to hang with my family on a Sunday and make that day more special with home-baked desserts.
My advice for today’s challenge is to plan special celebrations and moments with the people you enjoy spending time with and treat yourselves to a nice little something. If you wait for a special day or that Sunday cake all week long ~ it just tastes even better when you have in. On weekdays you could just carry off on fruit and healthy treats like my 2-Ingredient Cookies perhaps. And make the weekends very special with home-baked treats. Sounds like the perfect Sunday doesn’t it? :)
I grew up like this… my mom would bake every Sunday morning and those were the best days. Family, togetherness, a good from-scratch home-baked dessert…. life was good :)
This type of healthier sugar consumption is very different than if you were to chug a soda can in minutes still next to the opened fridge door. Or munching on a Twix bar in the car or closet.
It seems like there’s a million choices in front of us every single day…. what will you do? How will you treat yourself today? Is it possible to wait it out for a special day or say, Sunday?
Why not wait for the weekend or that special occasion? Why not bake something from scratch so you have a healthier little something to enjoy with your family or friends? No sugar-coating necessary ~ just a little treat with good ingredients that’s made with love and eaten in good company…. because life is sweeter when you share good things with others… :)
(plus when you share – you’re not tempted to eat a whole batch of cookies)
I hope you’re enjoying making small changes thus far on this Cut the Sugar Challenge…. let me know how you do :)
Do you think you could treat Sundays more special and wait for dessert until that special day?
Wishing you all a beautiful SWEET Sunday!
