happiness is…

Busy busy days are here….. so many wonderful ‘happy’ things ;D Sometimes, when I don’t get around to posting it’s because of either a busy day with work (in my other life as a graphic designer), or it’s a busy day with work (in my other life as a photographer). A rough day with my own health, or if I’m not sick, someone else in the family is sick, or we’re just too busy as a family, with mom and wife ‘duties’ that it’s hard to find time to blog.

Well, it seems like this time, it’s almost a combination of all of the above ~ except the flare ups! Yes, that’s the happiest news! I’m well, feeling great and business life is busy – I’m getting booked up with photoshoots! Yeah! We’ve also been working hard cleaning up the house – specifically the basement to make a ‘studio’ space for me. On a not so happy-note, however, my daughter is the one who is sick…. still… with a nasty cough since last week… poor babe, but doing much much better today.

Here’s my Happiness list to kick off the new week ;D

  • longer days – this hour change is just the best, isn’t it? That extra hour sure gives me more energy into the evening.
  • march break – school’s out! we need lots of activities planned, any ideas?
  • yesterday! yes, that’s it just yesterday, for being this awesome beautiful day – the First day of Spring in my book. + 15 degrees celsius (that’s 59 fahrenheit)
  • yesterday! again as I spent most of it doing this fabulous baby photoshoot (teaser photo above)
  • meeting two incredibly beautiful and oh-so-fun twin babies
  • enjoying the energy and fun when shooting ~ it is really my kind of environment ;)
  • enjoyed another shoot this morning, this time for a young professional
  • inspiring yet another woman to cut the sugar
  • curling up with my own little baby which suddenly, when flushed with a fever and a drippy nose, became the biggest baby in mama’s arms
  • cleaning. cleaning. cleaning. – yes, we’ve gone on a cleaning craze and worked wonders over two evenings (we are kind of lazy when it comes to the real hardcore cleaning), and created my ‘photography studio’
  • not sure which I’m more happy about : the studio or the clean basement? Very much the studio, but the clean house everywhere kind of makes me want to dive deeper into spring cleaning with a big smile on my face ;D
  • getting excited about spring! today, wasn’t much of a lovely day (a little gloomy actually) but just a hit of the beautiful spring weather yesterday made me itch for more. Alas, Wednesday is promising to be a good day ;)
  • just feeling ‘happy’ in general. life is good. I’m basking in this moment

My friends, how is your week starting out to be? I hope it will be a great one!

What’s on your Happiness list?

.

ps. my dear friends who have emailed me regarding MG or diet plans, please be patient as I’m very busy right now to put together all the details. If you need urgent help or have any questions at all, please email me again at any time. xo

what colour is happiness (and a big announcement)

Finding beauty is finding happiness ~ and yellow happens to symbolize happiness in colour psychology. What does this mean? This means that if you’d like to feel a smidgen happier today, perkier and jolly? – follow this recipe:

Recipe for Happiness:

:: Grab yourself a pretty little bouquet in that rich sunshiny happy yellow, prop it into a simple vase, set it in the middle of the table, put the kettle on, sit, breathe, enjoy a nice tea and… smile. Happiness is in the little things.

I though we all need a little yellow on this last bit of January. I’ve been all comfortable in my grey and neutral tones in my clothes and my home is a bit on the colour-less side – - hmm… I think I need to tap into that colour therapy (with a capital T) and brighten and revive my life a bit! ;)

What’s your favourite colour at the moment?

And  speaking of Happiness….. guess who was just announced the 1st Place Crafts Winner of the Canadian Weblog Awards? It’s me! This is so very exciting ~ I would like to thank the academy – I mean Ninjamatics for hosting this special contest. Go ahead and click here to see all the winners in all the categories.

While you’re here, and are a new visitor from the CWA – you must say hello ;) I would love to ‘meet’ you so please leave a comment below and grab yourself a big cup of coffee or tea and stay awhile right here on Lifeologia ~ there’s plenty to see and read in the archives. I hope you will be inspired.

ps. isn’t it interesting that the winners’ badge also has yellow in the design ~ Now do you really see what colour is Happiness? ;) And what a happy coincidence that I had auto-posted this entry before I knew I was the winner ~ this surely is a happy day now ;) xo

photo cards with candy cane hearts

Happy Holidays to you my sweet friends!

Christmas is almost here! Oh my, how did that time fly? ;) I hope you’re enjoying this time of the year and are ready for a beautiful weekend ahead hopefully filled with love, kisses, and sweets….

It’s actually the Love and Sweets that’s the inspiration for my tutorial today. I’ve created these little special Candy Cane Photo Cards for my daughter to give as little gifts to her classmates and teachers. And I’ve created a tutorial along the way to show you how to do these too ;)

It’s quite easy and quick to pull off still in time for your friends and family. Especially if it’s a smaller quantity – and not the 25 cards I’ve managed to do last night ;) Ohh now I do wish I showed you this tutorial way before so you’d have lots of time to make these, but for now I work with last-minute need-by-the-morning scheduling. If it’s too late, make sure you bookmark this page for next year! For now here’s what to do to make these lovely cand

Supplies Needed: printed photos, candy canes, exacto knife, twist ties

Directions: 1-2. Prep the candy cane heart by taping the two candy canes together. Prep your photos with the proportions matching the size of the candy cane heart. 3. Add slits with the knife to the area you want to fasten the candy cane hearts to. 4. Fasten the twist ties to secure the hearts in place. 5-6. Keep going until the last heart is in the arms of love ;)

* a big thank you to my little sister for taping the hearts together *

All are done! Time to give ;)

Having just picked my daughter up already after her X-Mas party at Kindergarten ~ I have to say, at first glance the teachers smiled and loved them! It was one of my best projects I’ve ever done ~ now I don’t think I can stop there. There’s still my sisters and grandma and grandpa and our friends…. I think I need to put my elf hat back on ;)

I hope you’re having a wonderful Holiday Season! Sending big warm Christmasy hugs your way ;) xo Ella

beautiful november

Beautiful November. I love the crunching leaves underfoot, rays of the sun warming my face,  layers of warm knits of favourite sweaters, leafs thrown in the air, laughter and giggles through the bare trees…. and my Canon by my side. These are my captures from a year ago at this time ~ finally making their way out into the open and into my Pure Love Captured Photography site.

Take advantage of this pretty time of the year, and go out with the camera. For a polished look ~ co-ordinate your outfits so they fit better with the season and the style of the shoot. I went creative here with Miss Gabriella’s outfit and she’s layered with interesting textured sweaters and a big wooly hat. Her leggings are actually my own fingerless gloves ~ I tried them on and it was the perfect finish to her autumn’y outfit ;)
