Here’s some more photos from our Family Day at the Hot Chocolate Festival just outside the city. We hiked around the woods, grabbed some hot chocolate, checked out the old Canadian Rail train wagon, played tag, climbed some trees, jumped on train tracks, and basked in the beautiful february sunshine…. Wishing every winter day was like that!
This was a sweet day off…. but sometimes I get out of ideas for some wintery fun, sans snow – especially. So I thought I’d seek some more advice….
Do tell : What activities do you like to do as a family?

Hello my friends! What a lovely weekend this was….. ;) I hope you enjoyed yours as well!
We had a Family Day long weekend ~ and it certainly was filled with family togetherness. It’s a lovely concept Family Day, isn’t it? It really was wrapped up in family togetherness and it really was happiness….
This is what happiness is…. (from over the weekend)

silly car games that we make up that are really fun
my girl singing lady gaga in the back seat – ok, that made me chuckle even right now as I write this. lol
and lately this song : Je Veux by Zaz – (too bad youtube blocked the embedding so I can’t share it with you here) here are the lyrics and the english translation for it ~ just beautiful
What is making you happy right now?
is it something fun from the weekend?
Hope you had a great Family Day and President’s Day. xo
Happy Monday my dear friends! I hope you all had a great relaxing weekend. Ours was spent pretty well (except for one fall-out). Through all this I’m still seeing happiness…
- spending a weekend with a good mix of staying in and going out
- relaxing and dancing and being with family
- another dinner with hubby on Saturday night ~ we decided not to call them ‘date nights’ as that sounds very fancy and we’re just two hungry people too lazy too cook, who dropped of their daughter at the aunt’s place, and grabbed some food. This time I went straight into my preferences and got us to dine at Raw Aura – one of my favourite raw food restaurants in the GTA. Happiness? ummm Yeah! which brings me to my next point
- seeing my steak-and-potato guy savouring raw food! We’ve been near there many times, I picked up my favourite raw dish to go and he grabbed something else and it worked. It should be noted that we usually don’t eat the same thing – (oh my, this could be an interesting post ;D) Point is – he did it – he faced his fear of vegetables and went all vegan and gluten free in the raw – and totally loved it! ;)
- catching on some crafting for me
- catching up on laundry – I am so old and such a mom writing this. But yes, I’m happy I have empty laundry bins ~ even if it was for just a few hours ;)
- celebrating a 2 year old’s birthday on sunday
- eating delicious food
- admiring a super cool cake ~ a truck cake for a little two year old that my sister made
- playing awesome cute family games
- laughing and giggling
- and crying ~ but things are ok
- feeling thankful that nothing serious happened when my daughter fell and bumped her head
Please share what makes you happy right now?
.
edited: My husband was just filling us with the details of the Superbowl commercials and we’ve been having fun watching them. He was out with friend’s doing guy stuff while we stayed longer at the party. Here are some that we liked that were ‘kid’ friendly:
The Kia is my favourite! ;D These are so fun to watch (more than the game for me ;) ~ which one did you like?
ps. more happiness today: I got a sweet surprise and found a coffee table I’ve been eyeing on a ridiculous sale. I took a photo of it with my phone and my husband was ok with it so he went with a friend and the friend’s truck to get it. But he calls me and says that now that he’s seen it up close, he doesn’t like it! I can’t lie, I did get a little upset and sad about it…. but, lo and behold… they just walk in with the table a little while later! Sometimes I still don’t know this man being all sneaky like that ;) That was true happiness! OMG I have an awesome new coffee table for my living room (which you can see here ;)
And you know what else happened? A friend that I’ve been on a rough patch with for the last few months, surprised me at the door and we had tea and talked while our kids played…. Who knew that a monday can be the best day of the week ;) I hope it is going well for you too. xo
I’m making some memories here ~ showing highlights from our week! I’m still laughing over a funny moment over a sushi dinner this evening - when we wanted to turn off the tv for our daughter she yelled: I’m moving out! LOL It’s these kinds of things I want to remember that will bring a smile to my face when I’m randomly carrying on with the day ;) Love Her! The tv was off. And we played Alphabet Words game ~ how many words you can think of that start with A, B, C and so on and we each take turns. ;) Then she talked about times when she’ll have a baby – lol.
This week we’ve been very busy. Work has picked up for me – tis the gift show season – and it’s a little crazy – but I love it. I’ve been thinking about doing a post about working mamas and how you can merge a career into a family life – and still be happy!
What were your highlights from the week? Would love to hear all about it! Have a great weekend – ours will be celebrating a two-year-old’s Birthday and trying to fit the game night into the same day for the boys ~ I think I need to plan a tea date with a friend;) What are your plans for the weekend?
Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week my friends, and are looking forward to the weekend ;)
We did random things around the house this week ~ no big highlights really ;) Sometimes, uneventful days are good days. We did however get a taste of the real winter this week. Once it started to snow ~ and my dear Gabi did not want to miss a snowflake ~ it’s been a wintery scene since. I never cared much for winter (more of a spring/summer girl), but kids do make the grumpy grownups enjoy this season a bit more ~ and I’m very thankful for that. (although you may still find me daydreamin’ of days sipping on tangerine juice with Nicky – yes, from fresh tangerines straight from her backyard! ;)
Back to -15. We enjoyed a few walks outdoors with many snow angels to mark our territory, some snow-shovelling contest and a few snow ball fights. It seems like the fun is just beginning. I better join in the fun and enjoy this wintery scene and look for some exported exotic tangerines on my next grocery store visit ~ then just close my eyes and sip away in my bikini! ;)
This weekend, we’re planning to go ice skating with the kiddo. (I’ll enjoy the side bench with some hot tea and my camera ~ with my sad MG legs, ice skating is pretty much crossed off the list.)
And sorry about these rustic photos – they are from my cell phone, but there’s something about them that I really love ;) Just a little reminder that sometimes it’s not about the quality of your gadgets, but looking for that interest in composition. Find different angles, either step back and bend down low to fill the shot with tall trees, or shoot from way up high to get cool bird’s eye view shots ;)
What were you up to this week?
Any fun plans for the weekend?
Have a safe and happy weekend! xo Ella
ps. thanks for the shout-out today Nicky ;)
