this week : a visit to santa

This week we went to see Santa! It’s an annual trip we take with the kids for a Santa Experience at one of the local shopping malls. This isn’t just a regular sit-on-Santa’s-lap visit ~ this is one big whole hour with Santa. The big old guy is the real thing, beard and all, and he reads stories, sings and dances and interacts with the kids! We love you Santa ;)

My little nephew Daniel was in full energy (pushing his mama around) until it was time to sit on this old man’s lap. Poor little guy ~ I love this shot below when the two of them cover their eyes with their hands ;)

On the other hand, the girls had tons of fun! Here is Miss Gabriella with her friend Izabella ;)

So this was our highlight of our week ~ the Santa Experience!

That and my daughter this morning excitedly telling me in the I-know-something-you-don’t tone: “mommy, did you know that trees are made of paper!”
lol I hope we’ll make some Holiday crafts from those trees, I mean paper this weekend ;) (recycled of course ;P)

Hope you have a great weekend!

What was your highlight from this week that you want to make memorable?

You can comment below or link up to a post if you’ve written about it ;)

family friday

Hello my friends! TGIF ~ am I the only one feeling this? It’s been a busy week for us with 3 days of no kindergarten for my little girl (2 from surgery and today a no-school day). It was also a true test of the fun we can come up with for indoor activities, as it was the first really cold week that blew strong cold winds and pinched our faces with frost. And yesterday we got our first snow fall! (but nothing stayed on the ground to actually play with the snow ;)

No one’s complaining – inside our warm cozy home we made cookies, did puzzles, read books (from this stash), (hugged lots (because of the surgery), ate lots of soup, drank lots of tea, made hot cocoa with marshmallows…. and in between all of that fun we went to see a theatrical performance ;)

I got together with a friend and our daughters and went out to see a sweet performance of Snow White at the local theatre. My girl had such a great time ~ this left amazing memories and it was really lovely to watch her enjoying the show.

I was really happy with the whole experience myslef – I think it’s always nice to support the small productions. It’s way less expensive than the big productions. (Hello? shows can run you into a few hundred dollars if the whole family wants to go). And I don’t think kids really can tell the difference. Keep your eyes open for small community theatres or high school plays (that would be appropriate for young kids). We were very happy and we hope to make this an annual event for us ;) I will be on the lookout for Christmas events and all sorts of fun things for kids to do around the Holiday and Winter season here too.

By the way, if you are local to the GTA area, don’t forget to sign up to the Sherway Garden’s Santa Experience – that is a terrific event with songs and stories from a very good looking Santa and there’s even picture time included if you bring your own camera. All this for $5 a kid!

How about you? What was your highlight this week?

Please link up one of your blog posts from this week with the linky tool below or just add in the comments below. (If you do share in the comments, I will pick one highlight to feature next week;)

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

family friday : good times

Halloween may be all gone, but our girls still decided to have some dress up time ;) Their kitty face marker-painting turned out way spookier then they anticipated themselves ;)

Yesterday we got together with a friend and her daughter, we were both impressed that they are ‘playing well’ together this time. The girls were so quiet (too quiet) with cute bursts of giggles.

So yes, we let this happen, because….

Miss G still went to kindergarten with red eyes, then we had to visit the doctor who got concerned at first glance. LOL I’m just thankful it wasn’t my box of Sharpies ;)

So my friends, what was your highlight of this week? Leave in the comments below and I will feature one comment next week!

On a side note, did you realize the coolest thing today?

.

My friend Anya took this one today on 11.11.2011 at 11:11 am! Awesome right?
At this time I was walking to pick up my daughter from kindergarten ~ didn’t even realize how special this moment was ;) And in the pm I was with my husband on the sofa getting cozy under a blanket with a tea and this movie (his pick but very cool! ;)
What were you doing on 11.11.11 at 11:11?

ps. I have this very weird thing about always glancing at the clock and it’s always 11:11 or 1:11 – is there some crazy 1′s phenomena I don’t know about it? ;)
