spring is in the air

1. 234.

Spring is really really here…… We’ve been enjoying 3 beautiful days of full sunshine and lovely mild temperatures of +15 and all the way to +19 degrees celsius (that’s 66 fahrenheit). This is really unusual for us up here for March, and I do hope David Suzuki, won’t come across this sentence, but I’m really enjoying global warming. ;D (eeekkk. that’s a joke of course).

We’ve been getting outside a lot. Hitting almost every playground in sight, hitting the trails and doing some hiking in our woods around the neighbourhood. And I’ve already taken inventory of all my sheets to make a cool fort in the backyard ~ don’t know which one of us will enjoy that more, me or my girl? ;D

I really really love Spring. Thank you for coming early to wake us up from our winter slumber….. for once, the winter blues didn’t really get to me and I don’t itch for a beach vacation (well, maybe a little ;)

I love all that Spring has to offer…. pink tree blossoms, hand picked bouquets, skirts and sandals, gentle rain drops, rain boots, splashing into puddles, sunshine, our backyard, breathing in the fresh Spring air deeply…… Loving it all….

What do you love most about spring?

this week : winter days

this week :

We enjoyed more wintery days…. some with snow, some with rain, and we’re back to a beautiful winter wonderland right now. It’s one of those weeks that I don’t care to record in time, I feel pretty drained from working at a gift show ~ either the dust or the physicality of the job, or both,  just made me shut down, again….

Shall I ramble on?…. the house is a mess, everyone has the sniffles,  the fridge is empty, I’m tired of looking at my friend’s beach vacation photos on facebook as we don’t plan to go to a resort ourselves anytime soon (and we would really like to), and yesterday, my daughter’s friend flushed my bracelet down the toilet ‘accidentally’ ~ maybe so, but just a reminder to please teach your children that once something falls into the toilet accidentally or not – they don’t have to flush – call for help! And although challenging and not-so-fun, there are ways to retrieve mama’s beloved things.

What have you been up to this week? Any fun plans for the weekend?

I have some recuperating to do and have a sister-date night planned Saturday night! I’m looking forward to that ;)

the crazy book lady

You think you know me but you don’t really know me – there’s something I want to tell that I’m not proud of. I’m an impulsive shopper. As the photos below will explain – I have a weakness when I think I’m getting a deal – books included. So when a friend has only two tickets to an invitation-only publishing house sale, and hands one to me. I went crazy!

So the pile is a bit high (and these don’t include most duplicates and colouring books) But when it’s for books ~ BOOKS ~ wonderful words of wisdom ~ it’s hard to resist! Ok, so I’m not sure how much wisdom is in Martha Stewart’s handmade holiday craft book ~ but I do love flipping through crafting, cooking, and photography, decorating and even wedding books (six years later). There’s many for Holiday gifts and birthday gifts for the next 5  years. I also do enjoy a good novel especially at this time of the year where I can grab a warm blanket and a hot tea and relax reading. ‘Enough About Love‘ is currently at my bedside table. For a buck, who could have resisted grabbing one or ninety seven pieces (I only wish they were all a buck – not the case though).

I’m trying to convince myself that I actually saved a whole lot of money – truthfully though, I know if I never went in the first place – I would still have that money in my pocket.

Are you an impulsive shopper? Do you get sucked into sales? Are books an exception? ;)

Told you I’m a crazy book lady – or more like the crazy sale lady! ;)

(ps. I’m planning on giving one to one of you ;) Stay tuned for update on the giveaway ;)
(pps. my apologies for the poor quality photos – my camera is being repaired from my accident – so my crappy cell phone camera is the best I can do right now ;)
(ppps. personal photos tip: when working with bad photos, turning them to black and white or sepia is a great way to boost the contrast and make them half decent with a ‘creative’ feel ;)

happy halloween

Hello my friends! How are you and how was your weekend? I hope it was filled with good happy things.

It’s Halloween today! Yeah! Although, the only frightful thing about it is that it’s the last day of October already. I can’t believe it but I am surely reminded when I’m digging in my closet for thick wooly sweaters for extra layers and then pulling my winter hat over my ears when I’m outside. The cold is here, but I’m ready to take it on ;)

Over the weekend, we went for a lovely brisk walk on a cool late afternoon with my friend and the kiddo in the stroller looking for pumpkins. Three neighbourhood stores and no pumpkins – but our mission was not a complete failure. It was lovely listening to the crunching leaves under our feet, stopping and listening to the quiet darkness on a cool night enjoying the crisp air and good conversation…

So all the pumpkins were sold out – this was very disappointing for only 3 seconds. By then the word was sent and before we returned home we had a bright orange pumpkin waiting on the front steps – technology makes me happy. Seeing my little girl excited about her own pumpkin makes me happy. Enjoying a nice evening at home with tea, a friend and home made brownies while watching my daughter and husband attend to the pumpkin carving makes me very happy. (by the way, my little 4 year old drew the face on herself and daddy cut it out as per her design – not bad huh? and there were no double lines. she is very precise and creative ;)

Wishing you a safe and Happy Halloween! xo

Please share if are celebrating and how your trick or treating went…

lost a good apple

‎”Because the people who think they are crazy enough to change the world are the ones who do” ~ Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs lost his 8 year battle with Cancer (or more specifically: neuroendocrine tumor arising from the islet cell of the pancreas). Here is a great article that goes into the depth of his treatment. Such sad news for a technological genius of our time.

~

Steve Jobs the founder of Apple reinvented technology from his basement and grew such a great and powerful company.

I myself have been loving apples and Apples ever since I got my first taste in college. Then I purchased one by special order – 10 years ago these babies were not in stores, oh no. My husband, boyfriend at the time, had to drive to some unfamiliar address and knock on a stranger’s front door and pick the big box up from his basement. And this is Toronto not some little town in Cambodia. It wasn’t until years later the first Apple stores appeared in our city. Who knew that the craze was just beginning with the iPod’s, iPhones, iPads…. Steve Jobs was the visionary behind this technological movement. He was a brilliant, creative and inspirational man way ahead of his time. Thank you for reinventing the wheel! You will be missed by many but never forgotten.

Gotta love them Apples! Gotta love Steve. RIP.

(edited ps: I wonder if he went to see Burzynki I mentioned here?)
