the crazy book lady

You think you know me but you don’t really know me – there’s something I want to tell that I’m not proud of. I’m an impulsive shopper. As the photos below will explain – I have a weakness when I think I’m getting a deal – books included. So when a friend has only two tickets to an invitation-only publishing house sale, and hands one to me. I went crazy!

So the pile is a bit high (and these don’t include most duplicates and colouring books) But when it’s for books ~ BOOKS ~ wonderful words of wisdom ~ it’s hard to resist! Ok, so I’m not sure how much wisdom is in Martha Stewart’s handmade holiday craft book ~ but I do love flipping through crafting, cooking, and photography, decorating and even wedding books (six years later). There’s many for Holiday gifts and birthday gifts for the next 5  years. I also do enjoy a good novel especially at this time of the year where I can grab a warm blanket and a hot tea and relax reading. ‘Enough About Love‘ is currently at my bedside table. For a buck, who could have resisted grabbing one or ninety seven pieces (I only wish they were all a buck – not the case though).

I’m trying to convince myself that I actually saved a whole lot of money – truthfully though, I know if I never went in the first place – I would still have that money in my pocket.

Are you an impulsive shopper? Do you get sucked into sales? Are books an exception? ;)

Told you I’m a crazy book lady – or more like the crazy sale lady! ;)

(ps. I’m planning on giving one to one of you ;) Stay tuned for update on the giveaway ;)
(pps. my apologies for the poor quality photos – my camera is being repaired from my accident – so my crappy cell phone camera is the best I can do right now ;)
(ppps. personal photos tip: when working with bad photos, turning them to black and white or sepia is a great way to boost the contrast and make them half decent with a ‘creative’ feel ;)

mother’s day was awesome

Our Mother’s Day turned out completely different than we originally planned. Some change in plans and some family drama got in the way of what was supposed to be a family get together at our house. Seriously, I couldn’t be happier with what ended up happening – which was pretty much NOTHING. The three of us (me, hubby and daughter) had a lazy sunday doing random things around the house. Our main ‘cooked’ meal was the breakfast – mommy’s favourite and of course it had to be waffles! ;)

Our super-yummy waffle breakfast shot featuring my daughter's classic 'fake' smile.

The breakfast was AWESOME! Literally. The food and my gift from a tiny two year old (how did she pull this off???), I got The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha.

The Book of Awesome with an egg carton tulip made by my daughter in preschool.

This book is a follow up to a blog called 1000 Awesome Things. Neil posts one awesome thing in life each weekday. The topics covered on the blog are varied, and range from #981, Wearing underwear just out of the dryer, to #858,The other side of the pillow, and #773 Watching your odometer click over a major milestone. Um, by the way Neil is a Mississauga author (that’s my city near Toronto) that while focusing on the positive things in life, he’s getting 40,000 hits a day on his blog. That certainly is AWESOME!

Here I am with my daughter holding up the book. Below is the shot with my personalized dedication. Gabriella wrote ‘to mommy’, signed her own name, drew pictures of a heart, cactuses (don’t know why but they’re cactuses- that’s what she said), a tower, a yellow sky and a pink cloud. That’s so AWESOME!

If you don’t have the book yet – you MUST get it! It’s such a fun read. It will add so much joy into your life.
