life’s treasures

We enjoyed a fun and relaxing long weekend up here. I got a little lazy with things (including blogging :: sorry ;) But that’s what summer’s are for, right? To be outside in the fresh warm air and away from computers and the tv. Or at least until the day Apple creates a laptop screen that can be well seen in the sunlight ;)

In our busy fun, filled with house cleaning, laundry, a bathroom reno (YES – a bathroom reno!!! more of that later this week ;), plus some entertaining with friends, a  trip to a provincial park, Gabi’s first REAL swim, and me organizing our storage room… WHEW… we got lots done! Some of our highlights with cute pictures include – A TREASURE HUNT!

I packed up a cute wooden box that I had for the longest time, and gave it a new purpose of being our TREASURE CHEST. I packed it up with coins, some jewellery and a few toys and buried it in our backyard. I drew a map of our backyard and pretended to have just found this map. Gabriella was so excited to hear me explain to her that it shows where the treasure is. For a little one, she needed help understanding her first treasure map. But it’s a great exercise for orientation and applying illustrations to real life settings. Once she figured out where the treasure was, she started digging!

It was such a fun activity. Great summer fun. We need to now compile a Pirate costume for both of us for a more authentic treasure hunt ;) (I already have my eye patch ;) – just some MG humour. lol.)

After all that fun ended… I did a little searching for treasure in my favourite spot – the hammock. It’s not used as nearly often as I would like to use it, but it served a great purpose to unwind and think about my life’s treasures…

treasure-hunt-relaxing Sometime’s it’s the hardest thing just to PAUSE AND DO NOTHING. That time, seems to be the most crucial for our mind to settle down and asses our life’s treasures. To say to ourselves, ‘this is good I can just enjoy this moment for ME’.

Remember to: Be THANKFUL for the people in your life. ENJOY the things around you. ACCEPT that your life at that moment is part of your personal journey. THINK about that personal journey – where are you? where are you heading? Are you on a treasure hunt yourself? Is that treasure material or spiritual? It seems that everyone is on a hunt for more material treasures… but it’s important to think about the spiritual and sensual gifts in our life and appreciate what we have and be grateful for this present moment.

Please share what treasures are in your life right now and what your journey (treasure hunt) is all about….
