A fun filled relaxing day at the beach.
A picnic on a blanket under a large maple tree.
So where did we go?
Here’s a clue. It all started with a drive to THE CITY!
If you’re from the GTA or are planning to be in Toronto this summer – you must go to Centre Island in Toronto. This may not be so obvious through the busy buzz of the city, but from the heart of cement filled blocks of tower-scrapers, you’ll find a nook near Lake Ontario that takes you away to a lovely ISLAND.
You need to take a ferry ride, which is fun in every way, and you watch the city view drift away. This is also a fantastic area to grab your camera and take some cityscapes of TO. The island offers so many attractions for kids, lots of picnic areas for families, and relaxing romantic nooks for couples. We were greeted by drummers (the African type) doing free workshops, and we passed the kid’s rollercoasters (my daughter would NOT be happy – next time hon – OUR MISSION WAS THE BEACH! (Yeah I know this ain’t Miami Beach – you can’t compare a lake beach to an ocean beach – but the ocean is so far away for me… this is just perfect enough ;D Once there, we set up a picnic close by and just relaxed away. My sister took my little one on the splash pad and the play ground – I can’t believe we missed the Franklin (that turtle from kid’s cartoon’s) park… oh well – we’ll do that also next time.
This is really our favourite place to hang out as a family. Next time you’re in TO, make sure you pack up a swimsuit and hit the beach!!!

I love centre island. I live in Hamilton and we love coming to the city. Kids love the rides there’s never as much time for the beach. We need to plan things out differently and bring a ‘nice aunt’ with us so she can stay with the kids while we relax on the beach.
Your pictures are lovely. I want to go soon ;)
I’ve been to Toronto a few times but this was never brought up as a day at the beach thing by our friends who live there. Huh. I wish we knew. They told us about the island but only that it’s a park. I would love to go there. Thanks for the post. I love your blog.
[...] day. I’m sure we will do lots of local celebration type activities next time. We did have a great weekend so I’m sure my daughter’s not complaining ;D This entry was posted on Tuesday, June [...]
HELLO HOT MOMMA! ;)
