I just heard about this kid named Howard who is 3 years old and he’s this spectacular little drummer. I mean, this kid can rock to the beat. I had to look him up myself and sure enough he’s really talented with these little sticks. You have to see for yourself ;)
I love that when a true passion and talent shines through a person. And when it’s a little person it’s even more exciting and unique. I cannot believe that this kid is rocking the world with his little YouTube videos and becoming an awesome little musical prodigy. My daughter is his age, so I can relate to knowing the age group and what kids are capable of. And they are capable but this kid had a bit of a nudge in the drumming direction and his perfect in-tune rhythm obviously isn’t fooling anyone. He’s just damn good!
My motivation for this week, is inspired by Howard to try and take our kids (or ourselves even) and encourage them to try different things and to look for hidden or subtle talents that could be brought to the surface to shine. I think there’s always a little something up our sleeves when it comes to natural talents. It’s so great to let our kids express themselves whether it is through music, visual arts, theatre or even nature, being good with tools, computers etc. The thing is, our kids won’t know what they’re good at – until they try it. And it’s not always instant flawlessness coming through them – it takes practice, practice and more practice to nurture a talent. But the child’s instincts, (your instincts) and their interest will display a positive reaction and passion. And when that happens, it is up to the parents to let them take it further and to guide them and to fully allow them to shine.
This time of the year is the perfect time to devote some extra time to spend with our kids and to encourage them to try something fun. You can try many small fun hobbies at home or get them involved in classes. An artistic, musical or dance class program would make a great Christmas gift.
Just remember to expose them and see if they like the activity and don’t push if they don’t.
Happy Monday everyone!
Try, Encourage, Have fun!

I love this! It’s so refreshing for not just our children, but also for us, to expand our horizons and try new things periodically!
it’s so much fun to try new things, sin’t it?
i love the confidence it gives little ones when they find something they are really good at.
thank you for sharing the video, too!

we have similar philosophies :)
i want them to experience things and not be afraid to try new things. in the same vein though, i see a lot of overscheduling and i really try to be mindful of that for my own children. like anything, it’s finding that balance, knowing your kids, nurturing, inspiring and just letting them be, all rolled into one.
