Today is a very special and exciting day in our household. It’s already been filled with birthday songs and wishes, blowing candles, lots of fun – - and don’t know why – but lots of tantrums and crying in between (maybe my daughter carries my genes of birthday blues ;) lol.
Before I post many, many cute photos of Gabriella’s 3rd Birthday Party, that happened this Sunday, I want to go, once again, down memory lane… and show you pics of her two previous birthdays. (btw – sorry for all the commas in there ;) Here are the photos:
1st Birthday Party – Ladybug Theme!
She already had this cute dress given to her by her godfather, hanging in the closet with the tags still on (I don’t dress her up in dresses often enough – so that still happens even now ;) And would you believe, I already had ladybug wings in another closet (YES, my closets are filled with many many things ;) I think they were purchased for a gift but then got switched for something else….) Anyway, I didn’t even think about doing a ladybug theme, but my sister found these super sweet invitations and – - well a little bell went off - – PERFECT! So I had everything really, except for little red shoes. I remember going around looking for cute little red shoes for my little LADYBUG ;) Once I had the shoes…. all I needed was a LADYBUG CAKE!
My mom made the cake for Gabi. It turned out great. (It was hot so it got a little melty before we were done with it ;) but it was a real highlight of the party, and super delicious too ;) Thanks Grandma – you will soon learn, or you may already have, that my mom is a fantastic baker and cake decorator – by hobby only – although she should have gone into business years ago ;)
We had a great party for my little lady! Lots of our friends and family came to celebrate. I was happy (although not very smily - – my MG symptoms were full blown by my daughter’s 1st birthday (although I wasn’t even diagnosed at the time), and I lost the muscle control in my face… so I was actually physically unable to smile – awful huh? Add to that droopy eyelids and barely audible speech… I was surprised I even had a party for her – but I knew that one day things will be on the brighter side – and life is about CELEBRATING – - so we celebrated ;) I now have the sweetest memories and photos of my little ladybug on her 1st Birthday!
2nd Birthday Party – Hello Kitty Theme!
Gabi’s 2nd Birthday Party was in the exciting, and trendy (at that time), HELLO KITTY. She loved the kittens and loved the Hello Kitty graphic. I loved it too. My mom made another cake – this time it was the kitty’s face and we used jelly beans for the eyes and nose ;)
At that time in 2009, it was difficult to find Hello Kitty party decorations in our area (or maybe we just didn’t look hard enough). I still wanted to create something cute… so I made a foam core Hello Kitty stand. I simple drew the kitten in Illustrator, printed the face and body separately (so it would be larger). I traced and cut out the white foam core, cut and glued the print out to the foam core and lastly, I created a stand (a simple triangle taped to the back). It was a sweet little decoration. I just wish I had taken a photo with my daughter standing next to it – but you know how these 2 year old’s can’t stay still… lol.
… and now she’s 3 years old today! Can’t believe it how another year just zoomed by ;) I am so happy to have such a beautiful girl as my daughter. I am so proud of her, she is bright and smart, (fully potty trained and no diapers at night even – btw), loves to learn new things, (she is already writing out many letters on her own), she loves to help with cooking, baking and cleaning, she has brilliant ideas of her own, she’s a great story teller and very imaginative, she’s very creative, loves kittens and puppies the most and wants a real pink pony living in her bedroom ;D I love you so much my sweet little angel. We are BEST FRIENDS already ;) (so she says)…
I will post all the photos from her party tomorrow ;) Till then ;)
