Hello my friends. Snow is still on the ground around here, but the air is getting a little bit warmer and the sunshine is ever so beautiful and very much needed around here. I love the change the new season brings because I find it brings in change in us, in me personally and in our home.
I’ve got a busy week ahead and it mostly has to do with cleaning, decluttering, donating and goodbying with old things I got too attached to and don’t need anymore. This will be an interesting test if I can at least try to affect my hoarding nature. Here is the exciting part. We, or I should say the amazing hubby painted out the entire living room over the weekend. I am embracing a lovely shade of pure and clean and simple – white. I am the happiest girl because that’s really the loveliest gift to come home to (after a 4 day weekend at my sister’s ;P) Now, we’ve got a blank canvas, literally, to restyle the heart of our home.
To me this is it. It is refreshing and exciting to move a few things around. Get a different feel in an old space with your old things that you’ve learned to love. But things are already different. There’s some sorting already done, piles for giving away, donating or disposing. Decisions like that are not easy, it’s a long road and some of it may just go back into an old box with old dust still on it. (ok I’ll wipe off the dust). But I’m scared of letting go and yet I know that is the secret to fully refresh my home and my soul.
The time to do this couldn’t be more perfect as I will be accompanied by my blooming magnolias brightening up my process. This is such a lovely way to refresh our space for a new beginning; to repaint with the perfect cleansing shade of white and to bring in a vase with blooming magnolias. Because you should know, that is the first decoration that will be going into this still empty room. And once that beautiful sunshine starts getting brighter and giving us a helping hand to melt away some of that snow, the windows will get opened up to ventilate some more and bring in more freshness….. all perfect to welcome spring.
How do you refresh your home for spring?

I’m in process now :D
I too keep telling myself I need to let go of some things that have just been hanging around since I have had them forever but don’t really use or love them. We dont even have that much stuff but I am really working on getting rid of some stuff in my life and the physical things are a good place to start! But we literally need to deep clean the house since the last time it was really done was of course right before our daughter was born!
yeah that IS a great gift to come home to–a newly painted room. And white? well I cannot wait to see what you do with that blank canvas.
I have been cleaning out a bit too, and I always get stuck on a few items that I decide I cannot part with. you are not alone on that. :)
Oh painting while you are away is the best! I am refreshing for spring in the same way-decluttering, restyling, etc. It feels great but takes a long time. I suppose it’s always a process. I also have to watch what I keep, I get very sen ;)timental.
Aw, high five for the down under shout-out! I’ve actually never, ever re-arranged anything in my home at any point in my life, except out of necessity. I envy people who have the skills to do “freshen things up”!
I’m trying to get rid of stuff that has been piling up. Is seems during the winter months I am a HOARDER!
Dust! I hate to dust, so anytime I do, it feels like spring.
