my baby girl…

… three years ago

My little girl is all grown up, as she herself admits ;) We just celebrated her birthday yesterday and it was a great party filled with excitement and so much fun. I have tons of photos that capture all that – but for those you’ll need to be more patient as I first go down memory lane…. and look back at my little sunshine when she just entered my world…

I still remember the joy, exhaustion excitement, and happiness I felt that day. Gabriella, (finally named on day 3) was all puffy and pink, later all yellow with jaundice… – but I will always treasure the time I just looked and admired her beautiful face…. it was love at first sight gabriella-baby-shots3-love at first-sight

Our family life was now off to it’s new beginning. The unknown excitement of becoming parents is just priceless. (If you are a parent yourself, you know just what I mean ;) gabriella-baby-shots3 gabriella-baby-shots4

It is beautiful to watch your children grow. To me, becoming a mother was such a life lesson – I suddenly had new values in life, redirected my focus and created new perspectives on what’s truly important in life. As a previously career driven woman, I realized I was the happiest with my baby in my arms…

I was beautiful to watch my husband grow into this nurturing, loving father role.

gabriella-baby-shots5-family We got thrown into a family/ business/ illness life right away – and tensions were high during many moments – but we made it through this far. One thing remains the most important for both of us – it is our daughter. The three years we’ve had her in our life have been the most challenging but also adventurous. Each day is filled with new lessons and challenges, parenting drama, toddler tantrums (although they say they end at age 3 :), smiles and laughter, and precious moments that we can only hold in our hearts. We started this parenting journey based on LOVE, and I hope that we’ll withstand everything that stands in our path, because of love…

I have learned that love, instincts and perseverance are the most necessary parenting skills.
What do you find are the 3 most important parenting skills? Please do share – so we can all learn new things on this crazy journey ;)

Work at Home – convenience or disaster

Today is another busy day for me. I’ve got my hands full with work (I need to prepare a new branding package for a new client and work on some website changes for another client) WOW – don’t know how I’m going to pull it off. My mom usually comes on Tuesdays and takes my daughter out for the day, but she cancelled the last minute! What to do? We didn’t have daycare arranged on a last minute notice… so, we’re biting the bullet and trying to KEEP CALM.

This is what happened so far:  we had breakfast, my husband went off to work on his stuff, I played with my daughter some princess and prince pretend play then I left her to play on her own. I came to my home office and started to work. Half an hour later, she came in requesting for more playtime… SO – I got her to keep busy with her own laptop!

She likes to be around me when I work and she’s good at using the computer already. She will be 3 in 3 months, I think it’s a good activity for little toddlers to keep them stimulated with some challenging games online. This activity will be for probably an hour, we’ll see what we’ll do next. She’s currently playing Little Pet Shop online games. There’s lots of puzzles and good eye-hand co-ordination…. I tell myself it’s the future anyway – she’s learning lots. Inside though, I am so guilty for NOT having the time to spend with her doing more craft projects, like this one, or reading our favourite books….

To prove my point of how busy I am, I only noticed the dead leaf on my plant on my photos ;P LOL
I’ve got my MOM mug next to me and you’ll notice my daughter’s still in her pyjamas – guess what? So am I. LOL

I’m curious to hear how other work-at-home moms handle things. If you have some tips on dealing with multitasking with work and kids please do share. Yes I realize that the first step in NOT to waste time on doing a post in blogworld! Hey. This was my 1/2 hour break that I certainly needed to happily sacrifice to share my moment with the world ;)

Happy Friday

be thankful canvas custom art

It was overall a nice week for me. Was it for you? I got a lot of work done rebranding, designing product, websites – a few pats on the back, happy clients, creative juices flowing – it’s nice to feel CONFIDENT again. As you notice, I keep my business life outside of this blog. For many reasons but mainly because I am still going through a rough time with my illness.

The last 2 1/2 years has really re-shaped my life and although the hard times are behind me (I’m certainly hopeful it doesn’t get worse ;P), I still go into a difficult phase with how Myasthenia Gravis can control my life. (in short, MG is a muscle weakness disease that takes away your control of your muscles.) I am ACCEPTING that things aren’t PERFECT AND THE WAY I WANTED THEM TO BE. Maybe I had a hard reminder that LIFE is just that: NOT PERFECT – it doesn’t matter if there’s an illness, a death of a loved one, abuse, difficult relationship or being personally unsatisfied, depressed. I suppose when we grow up we realize; huh, life is a little harder than we though…. If you’re one of the LUCKY ones that doesn’t have their feet stuck in the mud – GOOD FOR YOU. Know that you’re one of the lucky ones. SHOW GRATITUDE and NOURISH what you have. Show LOVE to the people around you – because when that luck ever runs out – you will have people around you to CARRY YOU… through that mud.

I have learned over time, to appreciate things for what they are, and now I do admit that I take things in – like, REALLY IN – I tune into my breathing, I look at flowers up close, I listen to the sounds around me…. I think it’s important to surround ourselves with BEAUTY everyday. As I was thinking these thoughts…. I created another one of my soon-to-be-launched Etsy store pieces… Do you like? It’s a Magnolia shot with the quote: “be thankful for the beauty around you.”

I will end with those words. Have a Healthy and Happy weekend. (For my Canadian friends, long-weekend)…..

“be thankful for the beauty around you.”

MG – Back to HEALING

Well ever since Easter, I took a dip down. It is definitely my diet that is affecting my symptoms. I have since added treatment for ‘leaky gut syndrome‘ – and it’s been a week since I’ve been on it and back to a strict Candida diet. I am seeing improvements again but I’m not moving my goal meter yet.

In the last few weeks, my weakness returned and my double vision too. My eyes got PERFECT for about a month in March and then Easter dinner came – with it’s dose of sugar and many other things that Yeast feeds off. Anyway, it was a good test because I got to experiment first hand that the diet change IS helping and I am focused again on my health and diet.

Has anyone tried this with me – looking at Candida, their diet, food sensitivities, allergies – that could be causing the MG. I strongly feel that our body is in need of a REPAIR – somewhere somehow we made it SICK. I hope that everyone can look at their health differently – get an allergy test, check your yeast levels, hormones, vitamins, or maybe antibiotics, birth control pills, or other drugs that could have disrupted our natural balance.

In order to change we must be sick and tired
of being sick and tired.

Moments of Sorrow

I received some sad news yesterday from a friend. A young girl, at 29 died of lung cancer. I wrote about her briefly a few weeks ago when I posted about wheatgrass. Well, natural therapies or not, a serious disease like that will get you sooner or later – unless there’s a miracle – and there ARE miracles but not for Candice. She only had a few months notice that her time has come.  We met a year ago on a vacation, and we stayed in touch since. She was so naturally beautiful, vibrant and a pleasure to have met. I am incredibly saddened by this. I’m still in disbelief and in sincere sympathy for her fiancee and her family.

While thinking about Candice I started to create this digital poster for her family that I’m planning to print on canvas and send to them.

digital art canvas poster with inspirational in deepest sympathy quote

This art canvas is just perfect because my white magnolia was in full bloom when she died. I hope her family will like it – it’s just a little gesture of sympathy I want to share.

I spent the day just constantly reflecting on life… how LUCK has a lot to do with how things unfold for us all. When difficult times are in front of us, we need to surround ourselves with the people we love and help each other  through the days ahead.
