all is calm so carol on

Hello friends. Happy Holidays!

We’re just a few short days from the-most-magical-time-of-the year…. Do you feel the magic? Or are you feeling a little stress, perhaps anxiety with this whole big Holiday thing?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and everything that’s beautiful and joyful about the Holiday Season… but sometimes I do feel like I have to look real hard for that beauty and joy.

As tradition goes, we are hosting the Christmas Eve dinner at our house, and although I do love that warmth and love that we will get to have at our home for Christmas, I do get overwhelmed with my To Do list before hand. I mean between the chaos of getting the house cleaned and the menu nailed down, groceries purchased, last-minute-things purchased, (and add wasting 1/2 hours to park the car here), gifts packed and cooking and setting the table…. well…. forgive me, but I did forget to stop and enjoy all that *beauty*!

But here’s the kicker, I do enjoy it. Well, not all of it. But I do like it that once a year we can have this really special day and I know that making these special memories, seeing the kids all excited for when Santa comes to visit, and having that feeling of being all wrapped up as a family together enjoying each other – is a gift.

So yes, the Holidays can be a little too much, especially if you’re hosting a dinner party. But it’s still important to stop and enjoy your gift of family and love. Find ways to take it all in… the good things, the smiles, the great food and that family warmth that you’re lucky to have.

Don’t let the Holiday stress get to you one bit. Just smile and carry on….

All is Calm so Carol On

If I forget something… I wing it ~ I make it work, I don’t beat myself up over it. And even though the behind-the-scenes is a little rough and we’re scrambling to finish the dinner, or we forgot to serve the side dish from the fridge, or the camera battery died, or or or… there’s always something…. right?

I do love the moment of our family coming together, enjoying great conversation, bringing up memories and hearing old stories, smiling and laughing, and enjoying the children ~ ah the children who bring so much magic to the world with their sparkling spirit and innocence so pure… they are the magic that Christmas brings. Wish all the parents in this world could hug their children so tight this Christmas…

There is no gift more precious than time spent with loved ones. Enjoy this Holiday season fully, find comfort and joy in the true gifts right around you ~ your family and friends.
